These series examine the Common Core State Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies and Literacy in Science and Technical Subjects

4-Part Series: Literacy in History/Social Studies

• Explore the role of the CCSS reading and writing standards in history/social studies instruction
• Explore the importance of disciplinary literacy
• Make connections between the CCSS and historical thinking skills
• Understand the importance of sourcing as a way to evaluate evidence in history/social studies texts
• Understand the importance of contextualizing and corroborating as a way to evaluate evidence in history/social studies texts
• Understand the importance of historical argumentation
• Investigate how sourcing, contextualization, and corroboration can be used to support the CCSS writing standards and historical argumentation

3-Part Series: Literacy in Science and Technical Subjects

• Explore the role of the CCSS reading and writing standards in science and technical subjects instruction
• Explore the importance of disciplinary literacy
• Explore an instructional strategy to support literacy in all disciplines
• Examine four planning and lesson considerations to support students' reading of science and technical subjects text
• Examine how interactive student notebooks can support the demands of the CCSS writing standards

$75-$100 per participant, per series.
Fee includes materials and varies based on individual district needs.
